Good stuff, we are def goin to have to get off our butts and get something organized locally. It just seemed like an awesome idea that year to do the global outreach thing.
Great work folks love seeing the smiling faces on new bikes. Just kinda wondering what ever happened to getting folks from all around getting involved in this. Our group here on the East coast got involved with the "Share The Ride" thru Pinkbike about 2 years ago, raised $1000.00 and gave 40 new bikes to kids, it was awesome. It seems it was a 1 time deal which is a real shame because it made so many kids happy that normally would not have the opportunity to get a bike at all.
I can only imagine & realize the amount of work and organization it must have taken to get it all sorted out, but the end result were very happy kids. I'd love to do it all over again but without support, resources, and contacts of the likes Pinkbike and other groups have, it's really hard to make it happen (ie: sweet deals on kids bikes from Trek/Norco).
Radek & I did alot of long distance conversations and struggled getting the bikes across the country, but in the end 40 shiny new bikes arrived, and 40 really happy kids saddled up onto their very first NEW bike, complete with helmets!
I'd really like to see this get reached out farther again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! About Us
